3
We oughtalways1to givethanks to God for you, 2brethren, as is only fitting, because your faith is greatlyenlarged, and the 3love of eachone of you towardoneanothergrows ever greater;
4
therefore, we ourselves4speakproudly of you among5the churches of God for your [a]perseverance and faith6in the midst of all your persecutions and afflictionswhich you endure.
5
This is a 7plainindication of God'srighteousjudgmentso that you will be 8consideredworthy of the kingdom of God, for whichindeed you are suffering.
6
[b]For afterall9it is only just[c]for God to repay with afflictionthose who afflict you,
7
and to give relief to you who are afflicted[d]and to us as well [e]10when the LordJesus will be revealed11from heaven12with [f]His mightyangels13in flamingfire,
8
dealing out retribution to those who 14do not knowGod and to those who 15do not obey the gospel of our LordJesus.
9
These will pay the penalty of 16eternaldestruction, 17away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,
10
when He comes to be 18glorified[g]in His [h]saints on that 19day, and to be marveled at amongall who have believed -for our 20testimony to you was believed.
